Classic Basic Rider Course

Start with the Basics

Every journey has to begin somewhere. The Classic Edition of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation® Basic Rider Course is a 15 hour class, which is divided into two or three days. This program begins with the basics of motorcycling, not on the track, but in our classroom. On the first day, we teach you everything from boots to braking before you even swing one leg over the saddle.

Next, we hit the pavement for two consecutive days of riding on our custom-designed training course. Here you’ll take what you’ve learned in the classroom and apply it to a real motorcycle in a controlled setting. Our experienced instructors will teach you important skills such as basic motorcycle controls and operation, collision avoidance strategies, maximum braking and proper cornering techniques, limited space maneuvering, and how to maintain control in adverse riding conditions such as inclement weather, construction areas, and sand or other road hazards.

Custom Basic Rider Course

Less Stress, Greater Success

If you’ve never ridden on a motorcycle before, or if you’re just nervous about learning to ride in a group setting, you may be a candidate for the Custom Edition of the Basic Rider Course. This course format offers you one-on-one training with an instructor prior to the two consecutive days of group training on the track, giving you greater confidence in yourself and the motorcycle.

As with the Classic Edition of the Basic Rider Course, you’ll start out with a group in the classroom, learning the ABC’s of motorcycling. Next, you’ll train in a private lesson with one of our experienced instructors on a day that best fits your schedule. Finally, you’ll join a group for two consecutive days of riding, now possessing the skills and confidence you need to succeed. If during your classroom sesson or private lesson you should decide that motorcycling is not for you, just ask and we will gladly issue you a refund equal to the cost of the BRC® Classic Edition*.
